The more ways you offer your community, sponsors, and grantors to give to you, the more likely you are to receive funding. So do you know the ways that people are giving today? You need to make sure that you have the channels open and active to inform and inspire your visitors TO DONATE!
So what are these channels?
Take a look below:
- Round Ups. Have you gone into a department or grocery store and been asked if you’d like to round up your purchase to the nearest dollar to donate the change to a charity? That is a round up. Acorns (the investment firm) offers it, banks offer it to increase savings, and your organization can do it too to increase your donations. It is an easy process and all you have to do is set it up and ask your volunteers, clients, and constituents to sign up. Your donations come in without your donors even having to think about it, and you have funding to support your essential programs.
- Online giving. At this point in your organizational journey, we hope that you have invested in a website, social media accounts, and have an avenue for interested parties to GIVE. You need to make your giving portal easy to access with simple giving processes. Be sure to allowing giving from all social media and websites. Again, when you make it easy for people to give, you are more likely to get gifts.
- Crowdfunding. This may be new to some people, but this is a growing channel for giving. Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising money from a large number of people, in modern times typically via the Internet. Crowdfunding is a form of crowdsourcing and alternative finance. In 2015, over US$34 billion were raised worldwide by crowdfunding. So how do you do it?
